Value of Educational ActivitiesEducational activities are an extension of the classroom and an integral part of the education of our young people. While participating in educational activities, students learn valuable lifelong lessons that can be as important as those taught in the classroom. Participation in educational activities enriches a student’s high school experience, while promoting citizenship and sportsmanship. This participation instills a sense of pride in community and teaches important lessons of teamwork and self-discipline while facilitating each student’s emotional and physical development. Students who participate in educational activities tend to have better grades and attendance records, lower dropout rates and fewer discipline problems than the general student population. Educational activities are different than club or recreational sports in that they exist to prepare young people for the next level in life, not for the college or professional ranks. Through their participation in educational activities, students learn the importance of leadership and personal sacrifice, build self-confidence, and develop strategic thinking to better handle competitive situations. Educational activities strive to develop students to be their best as individuals, as students, as teammates, and as members of their local communities. |
